What your union has won for you

During the last round of bargaining and throughout the proposal process, CUPE 1252 asked the LPN Committee and the membership what they would like to see in future contracts. Your union has secured improvements for all LPNs and is actively working on more during this negotiation period!

Optimized full scope of practice at facilities

  • Hold coordinated meetings with ANBLPN to discuss the impact on the LPN group;
  • Lobby the employer to allow full scope of practice; Horizon historically would not allow this, but Vitalité did; not a consistent practice provincially causing distention among peers;
  • Proposals during Bargaining to address the increased scope which equates to increased wages.
*Scope of practice is employer/LPN Association driven; when these changes happen, the Union lobbies the government because there must be a dollar amount attached. However, we are not involved in those decisions; we find out after the fact.

WHAT YOUR UNION IS CURRENTLY FIGHTING FOR

  • Closing the gap between LPN and RNs in terms of:
    • Wages
    • Shift premiums
  • Additional emergency/family responsibility leave days
  • Improved clothing allowance
  • Improved long-term disability payments
  • “Long service” pay
  • Increased Maternity leave top up
